WILSON - Cecil and Elsa (Mohnhaupt) DePas celebrated 50 years of marriage June 15, when they renewed their vows at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Escanaba, with Pastor Brent Parrish officiating. Three members of the original bridal party stood with the couple as they renewed their covenant with God and to each other. The ceremony was followed by cake and refreshments hosted by the couple's family.
Cecil and Elsa became husband and wife on June 14, 1958, during a ceremony at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chicago, Ill., with the former Pastor James Manz officiating. The bridal party consisted of Maryellen Madigan, sister of the bride, serving as maid of honor; Geneva Kroehler, sister of the groom, and Carol Gore, niece of the bride, serving as bridesmaids. Ernest DePas, brother of the groom was best man. Groomsmen were Dwain Kroehler, brother-in-law of the groom, and Robert Sorber, friend of the couple.
Cecil and Elsa have four children - Ronald (Pam) DePas of Seabrook, Md., Doreen (Dave) Berndt of Wells, Denise (Tony) Kleikamp, and Raymond (Chris) DePas of Escanaba. Their three grandchildren are Craig (Carmen) Kleikamp and twins Devon and Denna DePas, all of Escanaba. Their three step-grandchildren are Chris (Jamie) Berndt of Breese, Ill., Matt (Jodi) Berndt of Gladstone, and Emily (John) Noblet of Escanaba. They also have six step-great-grandchildren - Aiden, Olivia and Sydney Berndt, Chloe and Allie Berndt, and Addison Noblet.
