Lindquist to receive

degree in Minnesota

MINNESOTA — Tyler J. Lindquist is scheduled to receive a master’s degree in hospital administration Monday, May 19, from the University of Minnesota. Tyler is a 2002 graduate of Rapid River High School. He is also a 2006 graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., where he continued work through the graduate program in hospital administration. He and wife Katie will be moving to Janesville, Wis., where he has been accepted into an administrative fellowship position at Mercy Hospital.

Tyler is the son of Darryl and LuAnn Lindquist, Rapid River.



Bedard graduates from

NMU with special honors

ESCANABA — Catherine Bedard graduated cum laude from Northern Michigan University on May 3 with a bachelor’s degree in community health education. During the fall semester of 2007, she was selected as NMU’s Outstanding Health Major of the Year and was presented an award during the Michigan Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD) conference held in Traverse City.

Catherine is the daughter of Gary and Pat Bedard of Escanaba, and is the granddaughter of May Ring of Cornell and Ed Bedard of Escanaba.



Vandermissen named

to dean’s list with 4.0

WILSON — Melissa Ann Vandermissen of Wilson, a current eighth trimester student in the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa, has been named to the dean’s list for the seventh trimester.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must achieve a minimum grade point average, (GPA) of 3.5, out of a possible 4.0, in all studies for the respective term.

Pinar earns electrical

engineering degree

GLADTONE — Nicholas E. Pinar, Gladstone, graduated May 3 from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology. He has accepted a position at NewPage. The son of Nicholas Pinar of Gladstone, Nicholas is a 2002 Graduate of Escanaba Area High School.



Lagina earns degree

from Lakeland College

GREEN BAY — Jack Lagina graduated May 4 from Lakeland College with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He earned a G.P.A of 3.8. Jack is the son of John and Patricia Lagina, Kipling.



Stanley earns degree

as registered dietician

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Adrienne Stanley passed her registered dietician exam April 21 and has accepted a position with the Tanana Chiefs Conference at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. The daughter of Miles and Kathy Stanley, and granddaughter of Miles and Christine Behrend and Wayne and Shirley Stanley, all of Manistique, Adrienne graduated cum laude from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, Calif. in August 2007, then spent four months teaching at Bethany Missionary College in Guyana.



Cousineau graduates

from NMU with 4.0

MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University gave special recognition to Escanaba native Mark Cousineau during a recent honors reception. Cousineau had the distinction of earning a 4.0 grade point average as he completed his bachelor’s degree in secondary education, industrial technology.

Ebbesen graduates cum

laude from Florida State

FLORIDA — Harmony Ebbesen graduated cum laude from Florida State University this spring with a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders. Harmony is a member of Golden Key International Honour Society and was also named to Florida State’s President’s List with a 4.0 GPA. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled in 12 or more credits and earn a GPA of 4.0. Harmony is the daughter of Gary and Susan Fournier, Hyde, and is pursuing her master’s degree in speech language pathology this fall at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.



Ryno earns master’s

in nursing at Bellin

GREEN BAY – Kathryn Ryno, Escanaba, received a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Bellin College of Nursing during a graduation ceremony held Sunday at the Meyer Theatre, Green Bay.



Nowack named to

Chi Epsilon at MTU

POWERS — Scott Nowack of Powers was recently inducted into Michigan Technological University’s chapter of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society.

The son of Jerry and Jeanette Nowack of Powers, Scott will graduate in May with a degree in civil engineering.

Farley earns nursing

degree from LSSU

SPALDING — Kenlyn Farley of Spalding, graduated May 3 form Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

The daughter of Jay and Lisa Farley of Spalding, Kenlyn has accepted a position at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, on the bone marrow transplant unit. She plans to continue her education at the University of Michigan.

GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Valley State University announced the names of students who were placed on the dean’s list for the 2007 fall semester. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits.
