Vicki was born July 29, 1938, to the late Joseph and Esther (Hazen) Little in Escanaba.
She married Arthur J. LaFave on Nov. 24, 1956, at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba and together they had six children.
Vicki loved the Lord with all her heart, her faith in God was very important to her and is what gave her the strength to get through the past several years with this disease with such a positive attitude. She is our hero along with our father, Art, who was her sole caregiver. They both showed us the unconditional love they had for one another.
Vicki was a homemaker for most of her life and was happy being at home raising their six children. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother and was loved by so many people, including her special Bible Study group. She always had a way of keeping us laughing and smiling even through the most difficult times. She has taught us all so much. Faith, hope and love; but the greatest of these is love. She will truly be missed. We are now rejoicing that she may now rest in peace in the Kingdom of Heaven and will be our angel watching over us.
Including her husband, Art, Vicki is survived by one son, Gregg (Joy) LaFave, Gladstone; five daughters, Lori (Larry) Almquist of Green Bay, Lisa (Patrick) Mlakar of Duluth, Minn., Lynn (Jeff) Sarasin of Gladstone, Jill (Randy) Lawrence of Huntley, Ill., Diana (Dave) Zuzek of Lakeville, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Tom) Nault of Escanaba, Lorraine Perkowski of Indiana; two brothers, James (Eva) Little of Gladstone, Harold “Skip” Little of Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Joseph, John, Chester, Donald “Scottie,” Bruce, William “Brandy,” and three infant brothers.
The LaFave family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Allo Funeral Home, Escanaba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 p.m. at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at St. Anthony Church in Wells.
Vicki will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial to the PSP Foundation, which will be in Vicki’s name.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the caregivers from Community Action and Marquette General Hospice team who cared for our mother. God Bless.
In living memory of Vicki LaFave, a tree will be planted in a Michigan state forest.
