Michelle Curtice, 31, Escanaba, was sentenced to six months in jail on a charge of breaking and entering — entry without breaking with intent for the Jan. 2 break-in at the pasty shop at 827 N. Lincoln Road.
Curtice was an employee at the local business prior to the incident. Since her arrest a few days after the crime was committed, Curtice was lodged in Delta County Jail. At her sentencing Wednesday, she was given credit for 124 days already served behind bars.
Curtice was one of three people arrested in connection with the break-in. Her husband, William Curtice, 29, Escanaba, was sentenced April 7 to six months behind bars on a charge of breaking and entering — entry without breaking with intent. Daniel Pepin, 27, Escanaba, was sentenced in March to four months in jail on a charge of breaking and entering — entry without breaking with intent.
Michelle Curtice was ordered Wednesday to pay $390 in fines and costs. She was also ordered to pay $1,104 in restitution with the other defendants. Attorney fees will be determined. She will be placed on probation for 12 months.
Taken from the pasty shop were cash, personal checks and credit card receipts, said Escanaba Public Safety, the investigating agency. When a window was broken to gain entry into the building, an alarm was tripped, alerting police to the break-in at 1:15 a.m.
