Eugene was born on May 12, 1922, in Escanaba, the son of Eugene and Agnes (Sovey) Beck. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1941 and attended Cloverland Business College.
Eugene enlisted into the Army on Nov. 25, 1942, and served with the Corp of Engineers during World War II.
He served 42 months overseas in Sicilian Naples, Foggia Rome, Arno Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He received a Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver and one Bronze Battle Star, four Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Award.
Eugene C. Beck married the former Lorraine Harrison in 1946.
She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2006.
He was employed with the Delta County Tax Department until his retirement in 1987.
Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 115 for 47 years and Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barb (Allen) Collier of Ford River and Karen (David) VanArsdalen of Harbor Beach, Mich.; granddaughter, Sarah VanArsdalen of Wyoming, Mich.; and two step-grandchildren, Chad and Robyn Collier of Omaha, Neb.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Delta County Veterans Council service will be at 5 p.m.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Eugene Beck will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Harmon officiating.
Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Home is assisting the Beck family with arrangements.
