Cvengros to speak at Esky fund-raiser

ESCANABA — Former Escanaba High School football coach Jerry Cvengros will be the guest speaker at the Eskymo Fan Club’s 25th Annual Fundraising Spring Dinner & Dance April 11 at the Danforth Place.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary, there will be 25 $100 cash prizes in addition to the many great door prizes. Last year over $6,500 prizes were awarded.

The cost is $35 per person and includes dinner, dance with a live band, and many great door prizes.

Silent auction, Mo prizes, 50/50 and special raffles are also available during the night.

Tickets are available at the Escanaba High School Activities Office, T&T Hardware and Carne’s BP Gas Station.



Volleyball league

BARK RIVER — A sand-court volleyball league is being organized to be held Thursday evenings at the Bark River Sports Complex. It is for male and female players, including youngsters and adults. Contact Joy Gorecki (466-2519).



Girard wins title

NORWAY — Melissa Girard of Norway helped University of Cumberlands win its third straight women’s wrestling title Saturday.

Girard won the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association 44 kg (97 pounds) title by beating three opponents.
