ESCANABA — Theresa R. Scheriff, 95, of 1020 9th Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Theresa was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Marinette, Wis., the daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Rebarchik) Dura. She was united in marriage to Herbert Scheriff on May 25, 1936. Together they spent many years in the Escanaba area.

Theresa was a very faithful Catholic and was a longtime member of the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parishes in Escanaba. Theresa enjoyed working at the church and served on numerous committees.

She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, baking and needlework. Theresa was a great mother and a beautiful lady who loved life and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by: two sons, Herbert (Joyce) Scheriff of Gladstone, Jerome (Lois) Scheriff of Green Bay, Wis.; daughter, Mary Jo (Donald) Gussert of Green Leaf, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Evelyn (Mike) Quinn of Ford River; 13 grandchildren, Debbie Scheriff, Tina Schram, Paul Scheriff, Cris Scheriff, Michael Quinn, Toni Miller, Thomas Quinn, Kelly Quinn, Philip Gussert, Pamela Bowers, Jackie Fischer, Scott Scheriff, Sheila Hagen; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Jacob (Mary) Dura of Marinette, Wis.; sister-in-law, Frances Dura of Marinette, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Scheriff, in January 1996; a son, Anthony Scheriff; a daughter, Jeanne Mary Scheriff; her parents, three brothers and five sisters.

The Scheriff family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating Theresa’s life will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall of the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone.
