Remember when President Nixon vowed gas and bread would never rise to the price of $1? Department of Natural Resources workers recently discovered this Jan. 20, 1974 issue of the Milwaukee Journal while tearing out walls during expansion and renovation of the DNR building at Pocket Park. Former President Nixon’s promise is boldly printed for readers to see and cheer about. Nearly 38 years later, we can chuckle with disbelief at how times have changed.
