GladstoneGander,

The ugly truth

for everyone who must trade their life for

meager salaries or meager wages,

IS:

WHEN EMPLOYERS FAIL TO PROVIDE

THEIR WAGE EARNING EMPLOYEES

AT LEAST AN INCREASE OF FIVE (5) PERCENT OF THEIR GROSS PAY EACH YEAR

Wage Earners are losing PURCHASE POWER

EVERY YEAR THAT THEY DO NOT RECEIVE THIS 5% PAY INCREASE.

The Amount of

LOST PURCHASING POWER

is determined

by the difference between the average annual inflation rate of 5%

and the PERCENTAGE of GROSS PAY

they did or did not receive, each year, after year after year that DID NOT AMOUNT TO AT LEAST FIVE (5) PERCENT.

Wage earners who receive more than a FIVE (5) PERCENT PAY INCREASE EACH YEAR

are moving FORWARD, and increasing their purchasing power,

provided all other variables remain the same.

Since, 1968, the earliest year that was researched and continuing to this day in 2014,

the AVERAGE YEARLY RATE OF INFLATION RATE HAS BEEN 5%.

Everything

you say depicts the plight of wage-earning, taxpaying, legal Americans from the day of the American robber barons,

right to the minute today.

There is a precedent for the type of action you describe by bosses, managers, and CEO’S.

Every hear of Albert J Dunlap?

Do yourself a favor.

Read about the notoriety he garnered in his rocket-like rise to stardom,

and his meteorite fall into the black hole of oblivion,

all the while bilking

customers,

stockholders, and

workers,

smiling greedily all the way to the bank,

while toting his stash of cash to banks inside and outside our borders.

Truly, chainsaw al,

Unfortunately today,

the young,

the middle aged and

pre-retirement age people

have been brainwashed,

by the media,

by our political leaders,

by the rich,

by businesses,

by corporations,

into believing that what the rich and the richest of the rich

If you enjoyed a two-day weekend, or

If you enjoyed two days off from work each week, or

If you got paid extra for forfeiting your two day weekend,

THANK A UNION MEMBER,

that walked the lines before you were born.

Without unity,

wage-earning workers wouldn’t enjoy

the spoils and working conditions

they have relenquished and fail to have today,

which were ONLY made possible because of the

UNITED AND UNIONIZED SPIRIT

of wage-earning workers who stood up for their humanity and contribution of labor

for the betterment of the nation and their families.

Everything you say about working conditions, pay and pay increases, is old news

to older wage-earning Americans.

Today. workers must re-learn what older people,

possibly your father and grandfather before you,

learned well.

Employers don’t volunteer anything without

a constantly applied pressure,

pressure applied where they are forced to take notice!

Public Safety put their lives on the line every day and they work long stressful hours to keep everyone safe. The City Manager of Gladstone and the commissioners only give Gladstone Public Safety officers a $0.23/hour raise once per year and they have to fight for that. She also managed to cut their benefits in half at their last contract. They settled years ago for less money per hour so they could have benefits, however, they are being taken away by the City Manager and the Commissioners. However, She gets a nice $500 + car allowance every month on a car she gets to keep. Also, She gets a pretty hefty raise, I believe it was $7,500 annual raise and after the contract settlement for the teamsters (city employees) her wage will be adjusted again. So obviously, they are taking from the employees to give to her. So when she strips them she gets rewarded.

Fireguy,

You stated that your respond to "incidents".

And you most probably receive your pay from taxpayers.

Now, who pickups up the "tab" for the rich and their businesses, who continually design laws and tax code to reduce THEIR TAX BURDEN AND TAX LIABILITY ?

You don't make sense.

Carried a simple step further, your logic that "taxpayers" and "consumers" pick up the tab is only partially correct:

Wage earners, earning life sustaining wages, can afford to pay indirect and direct taxes.

Wage earners, and unemployed people having reduce or no revenue

cannot afford to pay taxes!

Your simple logic doesn't complete the circle.

You choose only a protion of an arc of a circle, and then wrongly imply it's a full circle.

Concerned54,

realize that, on average, over two-thirds of small businesses fail within ten years of their startup.

realize too, that there are many more small businesses that startup every year.

realize, that of the startups, there are too many ill conceived and poorly planned by people who have the will, but not the means of sound planning to succeed.

realize too, that succesful startup businesses hire decent people and pay decent wages and that businesses that suffer from high employee turn over rates, are don't SOMETHING WRONG.

The trouble with business and PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU is that business owners treat their help as an EXPENSE, rather than think of their help as an ASSET, and give their a HELP a reason to be a stake holder in YOUR business, BECAUSE YOU THINK ENOUGH OF YOUR HELP - to pay them WELL.

Your mindset is narrow, and your reasoning for low paid help is based on IGNORANCE, or possible stupidity.

Your words indicate both.

Fireguy016 you say The point of owning a business in a free world is to hopefully make money. Well the point of working a job is to be able to have a life, including having a roof over your head, and being able to feed your children and yourself!! It is high time that the rich greedy corporations in this country that are funded by the republican party start paying their fare share!!!!

Do you really believe that fast food joints are not minimally staffed now!!

When companies are making multiple billions of dollars in profits and they do not want to pay people a wage that they can support their families on is just plain wrong!!! I call that pure and simple evil greed!!!

They can only charge so much for their products before people will stop supporting them!! Then they either take less profit or shut the doors, which do you think they will do??

We need to vote out these greedy evil republicans !!!

Arealyooper really? what you will see is minimal staffing,no hiring and no expansion of business. The cost of Oboma care in the case of States like Michigan will be picked up by the hard working taxpayers to subsidise the expansion of Medicare and Medicade. The rest will be passed on to customers. The point of owning a business in a free world is to hopefully make money. I don't think I need to point out the purpose of owning a business in a Socialistic State seems that's where your logic in centered.

I agree with the whizard the repukelican party are nothing but a bunch of greedy bast.tards!! concerned54 I think you are the one who needs to be schooled in economics!! Lets put the minimum wage at $15.00 or $20.00 an hour do you think people are going to pay $10.00 for a hamburger at a fast food joint?? Now that we have Obamacare how is the restaurant going to pass that on to the consumer?? Don"t even say they are going to fire a bunch of people,it takes a certain amount of people to keep the business running!!

concerned54 I bet you are a card carrying member of the tea "brain dead party"

It must be a hard thing going through life so lost and confused!!

I do wish you well though, and good luck with your therapy!!

The Whiz, always first to tell everyone of his superior intellect, is absolutely clueless on the reality of economics. The very people that he thinks will benefit from a minimum wage increase, are exactly the ones that will be hurt the most. No business ever paid for a min. wage increase, it is simply passed on to the consumer. Or as so often happens with small struggling business, such as the one my wife and I own, we simply have to work more hours, and reduce staff, (that means lay people off, Whiz).

Don't you just love the rich, their political Republican Party (?), their businesses, their corporations, their politicians, their Supreme Court, appellant courts . . .

They just don't want anyone to have a living wage.

Even though they effectively exercise control over 329,000,000 million others of us!

Gotta LOVE THEIR GREED
