A Parable or A Fable?

Evidently, from previous announcements employing their version and skills incorporating "critical thinking",

some here can't understand, or don’t like comparison’s old or new, used or original..

Let the dolts decide.

Hint:

A parable is a succinct, didactic story, in prose, or verse,

which illustrates one or more

instructive lessons or principles.

It differs from a fable in that fables employ animals, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature as characters,

whereas parables have human characters.

A parable is a form of analogy...

The Mousetrap -

A poor mouse looked through the crack of the farmhouse wall...

to see the farmer and his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?"

the poor mouse imagined.

He was devastated to discover it was a republican mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard,

the poor mouse proclaimed this warning:

"There’s a republican poor mousetrap in the house!

There’s a republican poor mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched,

raised her head and said,

poor mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you,

but it is of no consequence to me.

I can’t be bothered by it."

The poor mouse turned to the pig and told him,

"There is a republican mousetrap in the house!

The pig sympathized,

but said,

"I am sorry, poor mouse,

but there is nothing I can do about it but pray.

Be assured you are in my prayers."

The poor mouse turned to the cow and said,

"There’s a republican mousetrap in the house!

The cow said,

"Wow, you poor mouse, I'm sorry for you,

but it's no skin off my nose."

So, mouse returned to his house,

head down and dejected,

to face the farmer's republican mousetrap...

ALONE - alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house ...

-- like the sound of a republican mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.

In the darkness,

she did not see it was a venomous republican snake whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital ,

and she returned home with a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup,

so the farmer,

hatchet in hand,

headed off to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient...

But his wife's sickness continued …

friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.

To feed them,

the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well.

She died.

Many people came to her funeral…

the farmer had the cow slaughtered

to provide enough meat for all of them.

The poor mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness...

Moral:

if you’re not rich,

not a republican

not a corporation or

not a business man…

and,

you work for wages, or poor like a mouse…

the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem...

and think it doesn't concern you…

remember

-- when one of us who works for wages,

is threatened,

we are,

ALL

of US who work for WAGES …

we ALL are

threatened and face increased risk and loss…

when we sit idly and allow OUR vote and OUR elected officials

to marginalize,

negate,

pros.titute, or disenfranchise OUR VOTE,

in favor of their financiers and their lobbyists.

It looks like the empty county space is really a ‘good-thing’.

Since the loud cries of concern for the ‘home-less’

of just a few month’s ago, have largely become a whimper…

perhaps all those interested in putting the homeless in a place now have the space to do it.

There’s the health department not far away,

the college for education, and

perhaps a few good religions could step up to the plate as well, noticeable by their lack or representation in the list below

- instead of continually sending money elsewhere

as the clergy continually cite the need to send collections elsewhere and show their absence and toll at home.

The Homeless Task Force,

won’t have to upset or rezone neighborhoods

to allow transitional housing for the homeless.

City manager O’toole,

along with Nisha Coolman, coordinator for the Delta County Coalition Against Homelessness,

Beth Graham, chair of the homelessness coalition,

Mary Busick, of Lutheran Social Services Voices for Youth Program,

coalition member Bobbie Stacey, also a member of the social action committee of the Unitarian Universalist Bay de Noc Fellowship,

along with Jim Rettig, member of the Unitarian Universalist Bay de Noc Fellowship, could/should...

... should at once,

approach the delta country board of commissioners to use the now empty county space.

Perhaps, there is one among them,

that could write a grant and receive state or federal funding,

to ease the financial suffering of hard put county commissioners

to update the non-administrative county wages!

This, would be a ‘good-thing’.

If they are asking ANYONE to experience a pay freeze they EVERYONE should experience it. Blaming it on someone else, well, your just a coward. You took the money Viau, while employees were in a pay freeze. Dont pass the buck.

AFSCME has some legitimate concerns here. The practice of nepotism should not be tolerated. Administrator Viau has tried for years to get her son a job in county government and has finally succeeded under this current County Board. Disgraceful.
