RealyYooper,

If you live long enough,

you won’t smell a thing,

not even when you soil yourself.

But,

get your facts straight in the mean time.

There are many studies, too many,

that prove more people die from smoking and

possible second-hand smoke inhalation….

Please cite any studies where, or

even press reports where it has been dully noted and attested that…

HE/SHE

died from smelling odorous people

either in the first degree or second degree.

If it were fact that smelly people caused death,

then they should be imprisoned along with their fellow-foul-air offending smokers.

If you live long enough, you won’t smell a thing, not even when you soil yourself.

And, you won't know enough, like smokers, to care about your roommate.

I am tired of going into a store and have someone walk by me that smells like they have not had a shower in years!! I would much rather smell smoke then then body odor!!! Maybe the council members can stroll the stores and hand out tickets to all the smelly stinky people!!

Someone suggested, 'shaming' people by having cameras.. Typical of our society today.. I laughed.. I was speaking to someone just the other day about what lessons we're teaching our children.. We're teaching them that "Self-Governing" is a thing of the past. Don't worry about 'confrontation and how to resolve a difference' with another person.. Just call a cop! Push to create a law so you have a reason to 'Call a Cop' - Make illegal that which is currently legal to benefit yourself.. and make legal what is current illegal for the same reason.. But lordy!.. don't allow anyone to touch ANYTHING holy or sacred to you.. and never, ever, never, ever pick up your dog's doo-doo unless it falls in your own yard.. Ya wanna smoke? Smoke 'Responsiblity'...

As far as smoker’s and smoking in the park,

the city administration and city council should treat this exercise

just as if someone were openly or secretively urinating and defecating in the park - no deference no difference...

all hazardous to public health.

Cameras should be placed in strategic locations, some stationary, some rotating, giving officials unobstructed views of violators.

The city could create a for fee website showing devious deviators at their best.

Think of the jobs that could be created monitoring these smoking miscreants -- it’s a good thing!

End of time.

End of spending needless money, time and torturing your brains in useless meetings and enumerable useless conversations.

End of problem.

What about the press opening a comments section on the doggie and animal problems?

When will important issues be placed on councils agenda for debate?

Smoking is BAD and NASTY - but trying to control people isn't fun either.. The City Park is a Park for EVERYONE.

I have long held that "If someone is offended or damaged by someone else's performance of a LEGAL act, then let that person bring charges, bear proof, and show damages. As I've heard, and hope to see.. "There really is hope for COMMON SENSE in Escanaba... " I applaud the councils actions..

You should be allowed to smoke v, as long as you place the cig in that other bu.tt orfice - not allowed to exhale, where the majority of your rank bu.tt ideas emanate-germinate these days

Glad to see there's still a small possibility that we will remain a free country.

I get no smoking on playgrounds but extending that out to the whole park is ridiculous.

Bottom line non-smokers need to buck up. The world should not have to revolve around you. If you don't like smoke you need to weigh the want to go to a park or restaurant versus the possibility of encountering smoking.

And educating my children to the unhealthy habit of smoking is MY job as a parent, not yours or the governments!! (FYI, I do NOT smoke)
