I agree we need a Bus system like DATA but it could be downsized in Bus size. In a letter to the Editor someone noticed that most of the time the buses were empty. In my job I drive all over the U.P. and Delta County every week and noticed the same thing.... big busses and no one in them. Data needs more smaller vans to be able to respond better and save money on busses and be able to employ more drivers. They should have tracking and ridership data at when and were the bigger busses are needed. Now I know that many of the people that use DATA are handicapped and need (wheel chairs lifts and so on)but they do make large vans that can do this and take passengers. They have to cost a lot less and use less fuel than the bigger Busses. We Don't need to get rid of DATA just re evaluate needs and use.

Wake up Townships you can't expect the City of Gladstone and Escanaba to pay for bus service for the whole County. Every other Bus system that's around us has a County wide millage. Sad
