It's nice that the Besses donated this money for a rehab dept. for the hospital. That said, it's a misnomer that "people who can't afford rehab" will be able to receive it now. No one can afford rehab. It's all paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, insurance or other such funds that social workers and case managers at hospitals know how to elicit. There are legiions of people in hospitals and such facilities who are there to figure out ways to get reimbursement for the care rendered. It would seem that very little would come from donated monies, if any. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The need is so great for care of various kinds, that no fund could take up the slack between those who can't pay and those who have established insurance. The hospital will get the money from other sources (government mostly) and will likely use the Besse Foundation monies for building, etc. Regardless, it's good to have this new additino to SFH.

Class ?

BR, you’re preaching to the choir here !

I have class...

even, maybe you have some too …

but others have less, and that’s wherein the rub lies.

Melissa Besse is acknowledged equally with her husband in many places, including the "John and Melissa Besse Center" at Bay College. Have a little class, Froggy. The Besse's are once again stepping forward and doing something great for their community, and I have seen nothing that indicates that Melissa is forgotten. I agree with Tailgater -- let's just say "thank you very much" and not spend our time looking for something to criticize.

Wonerful Onerful Wonerful !

“One tough businessman in his day, showing that even capitalists can give back to their community..”

Yeah.

“Even Capitalists . . .”

One might also wonder how the endowment acknowledgement plaque will be engraved….

Since Mrs. Melisa Besse was a larger than life-partner while Mr. Besse, was working towards his Capitalistic Rise, and who helped him along the way to acquire his Capitalist Reward... that Uncle Sam didn’t get…

One might wonder,

rightfully,

if Melissa Besse and her extraordinary contribution to Mr. Besse’s good fortunes should be remembered in the body of the engraving along with Mr. Besse ?

Many in the community who remember Mrs. Besse, would think dear john would be considerate and give credit where credit is deserved.

It’s not just right - it’s respectful and its proper.

Just Wondering ???

It would be nice if he acknowledged that Melissa was a life-co-partner, and not someone … with too many two-tees .

It would be super if they included a physical fitness center for employees in this new addition, too. Perhaps this is something that the planners of this new building could consider.
