The milk price they are referring to in the article is the amount that the farmer gets for his milk, not what you pay in the store. The price in the store hardly ever changes except to go up, but the farmer never sees that.

Why is our federal government worried about milk?

This is silly. Let the market work without government involvment. Some will succeed some will fail it is the way it should be.
