I haul their finished paper. A few months back i took a load to jacksonville,fl. After i delivered that i went to the seaport and unfortunately had to pick up rolls of paper that came off the container ship from overseas somewhere. ****** me right off. That's one of the biggest problems this country has. Importing garbage when we have eberything we need right here to do it ourselves.

Hopefully the mill stays around. With that paper mill comes a lot of money to the area.

I have a few friends who work over there. Imagine the home values and the economy in this area without that mill.

I know some folks don't like mill workers because, lets face it, some of those workers are real &%$ holes. But most of them are good people.

Really puts a light on the city not persuing some other opportunities they were presented with in the past.

wonder if newpage is planning on paying all the small busness vendors the money they owe them after newpage filed for bankruptcy? why does newpage never have money up front for vendors? why does new page get let off on these debts? sounds like big money troubles ahead for newpage. this is just the beginning. i miss the old mead paper. i blame society. this town has way too low standards for workers. they feel sorry for people just because they have kids even though they are a shotty worker and hire them anyway. thats where you're money is wasted newpage. fire all the trash and only hire the elite! too many old ppl there way past due retirement just like with the school systems. cant do nothing though cause the unions. if i were in charge i'd fire almost everyone along with any union member.

Whether you think Obama is awesome or an imbecile, the simple facts of the matter are that demand for high quality paper - in textbooks and magazines is declining. When demand drops, production drops and layoffs will occur. Any reduction in operations at NP will hurt all the way back to the logger. Delta Cty needs to wake up and find some more maufacturing companies that can pay a decent wage not rely on tourism

Interpolator is dead on! I live 1500 miles away from the UP but buy my $500 worth of NewPage paper each month at a paper supplier. Office Max and Office Depot doesn't carry it. I'm doing my part to support my old home area. Delta County will be screwed if the paper mill shuts down. Better develope that water front area to make it first class and promote more tourism to diversify Esky!

Everytime we go to the store WE make a decision. WE are making or breaking this country - not the president. He is just a figurehead. Stores close because of consumers - WE are the consumers. Less paper is being used because we are using less. BUY MADE IN USA! It's time to show the world why this country is so great! This Republican/Democrat bickering has gone on long enough, so shut up.

Come on people, you can't come out of bankruptcy protection and expect there to be no changes. If you wish for this company to survive you must trim the fat. This is not Obama's fault it is the reality of being owned by an investment company!

There was an opportunity to have our country lead by a man with a business sense just this past November. He was rebuked, in favor of the status quo. Now live with it.
