Those who dismiss tattoos as unclean, for criminals, or unnatural have to answer to the fact that it is more wide spread than almost any other art form throughout human history and culture…

And you are right, someday when she is old and wrinkly, her tats might show their age. But she will always remember how much she enjoyed them...remember why she got each one...remember what each one symbolized. I'd say that's a heck of a lot better than being old and wrinkly and looking back at your life and thinking about things that you had wanted to do when you were young, but never had the chance or nerve to do them. So rock on with your tatoos...and if you don't want one, then hopefully you find a way to express yourself through some other form. And in the meantime you could always practice what your mama told you...if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

I of course saw this article and the beautiful picture of Katrina; however, I just now became aware of this whole thread and comments. Wow, I have to say that I am wondering just what the heck "miss peace lover" is doing on this page. Really? If you don't like tats, that's fabulous, and luckily you have the right to decide not to get one! But to use a screen name like this and then come to a site with nothing but negativity is quite hypocritical. Katrina is actually a very smart and accomplished person...guess what? She's actually employed as a MANAGER of a local business that has been in Escanaba for well over 60 years. She isn't on welfare, and she doesn't somehow magically use a bridge card to pay for her tats.

google Kat D Von! Her whole beautiful face and body is covered! It's permanent! She had an affair with Jesse (Sandy's husband) and tattooed his picture on her side! They are broken up, but tat is there to stay!
Feel sorry for her when she finally meets Mr. Right and decides to have a child. Woman, don't tell me things don't stretch.

Blatant Lies, Blasheymy spewed! I'm baffled!
I have empathy on these people! They are our future and look what they are doing!
Long haired hippies need not apply! Every where a "Sign" That's the era I grew up in. Hippies later cut their hair! That could be done. Don't understand to make things permanent! Never Will!
Sailors to mark their journey, military, that's thier mark.
Leonardo de Vinci didn't use a template and take it to the limit. The coming up generation are doing just that.

"These are considered the 'grandmas' now in the tattoo profession' And so will the poor souls that have this "art" or rebellion, as it really is. Judgmental no just responding to an article, others can puncture, ink or carve up their bodies all they like. But just like I notice a beautiful woman or child and have a comment so will I now. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It is honestly coincidence that my screen name is similar to J's. For the record, peace, I'm not on welfare. I'm actually a veteran turned stay at home mom. I don't know how all of this devolved so quickly. I appreciate you coming back and stating that the woman in this picture is pretty but that you don't like her tatts. Your original comment implies otherwise, and it's incredibly insensitive to say such things to another human being. It maybe easy behind a computer screen but you know you would never say that to her face because it would hurt her feelings. This is no different. Stereotyping those with tatts tells people a lot more about you than it does those who are tatt'd.

The statistics speak for themselves, less that one hundreth of one percent of top earing CEO's have a tattoo but nearly 25% of people on welfare do. I think I will leave my body the color that God made it.
