DV shelter needs our assistance
If there is one area in our community and nation that needs attention, it is that of domestic violence. Of course, October was Domestic Violence month. That is the time set aside to recognize a major problem that exists in our society. However, that time has continued on as the Alliance Against Violence and Abuse has put out a call seeking supplies. This group provides a worthy service to our area by offering shelter to battered spouses and their children. It gives these people a chance to get out of danger and seek necessary help and sometimes serves as a life-saving refuge. This is good, but it does not run on its own. It is a non-profit group that relies on a lot of assistance. The AAVA not only provides shelter for those who need it, but most times, people coming to the shelter have nothing but the clothes on their back. This is where the rest of us can come in. The shelter needs our assistance to help with supplies that have been exhausted.
