Contemporary Christmas carols

Contemporary Christmas carols

Silent Night: Not with kids around. To break the seasonal silence of an alone person, contact them soon.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Oh, how we can use some additional angelic involvement, now.

O Come All Ye Faithful: Faithful to our children, spouses, churches, employees, employers, even the Pack and Lions. Faithfulness, loyalty — so needed nowadays.

I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In: Three shiploads of those Christmas shoeboxes sent overseas. Or, how ’bout three plus tons of Christmas packages sent to US troops overseas.

Good King Wenceslaus: Look this real dude up.

Joy to the World: J.O.Y. Jesus, Others, Yourself. Or, Jesus, O/Nothing/Zero, Yourself. Jesus-You, nothing — no one in between, no intermediaries. Joy–for seniors, no more robo calls from ‘Ann’ or all those insurance companies.

Away in a Manger: Imagine a baby in a cold manger and barn coming to rule the world with no military might, no guns or bombs, just humility, kindness and the shining example of His Father, that kind of unexpected King.

Frosty the Snowman (Oops, not a carol): How about no frosty looks at the dinner table this Christmas. No frosty putdowns. Just frost-ing on cookies and maybe some of Jack Frost’s work.

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear: Clear that we put away all rancor and argument over the November elections.

The First Noel: First one — simple, humble, unassuming, praiseworthy. Now — a lifesaving, everlasting, seismic move.

Fall on your Knees: At the manger and cross. Stand for your country’s flag, please.

We Three Kings: King of Mercy — yes. King of Grace — we cannot earn. King of Might — empower us.

Happy Birthday to You: My mother always had a birthday cake for Jesus, with 1-33 candles, angel food of course.

The Chipmunk Song: ALVIN!

O Christmas Tree: O Tannebaum. O Joulukuusi. O Julgren. O Arbre de Noel. O Arbor de Navidad.

Go Tell it on the Mountain: Go Eskymos, Braves, Black Bears, Wolves, Eagles, Jets, Wolverines, Emeralds, Cougars, Broncos and state champion Rockets! Go girl! Go–(fill in the blank).

Mary did you know: When you kissed your baby, you kissed the face of God. The baby you delivered will soon deliver you.

Do you hear what I hear: Dinner call? Santa stuck in chimney? Andy Williams? Paper unwrapping?

That’s Christmas to me: You tell us.

Love Came Down at Christmas: President George Bush said that when he became President his dad, ex-President, H.W. Bush gave him three words of help — I love you. Great Christmas message, dad. Let’s repeat.

Huge Christmas concert: Sunday, Dec. 16, 7 p.m, St. Joseph/St. Patrick Church ending with Hallelujah Chorus — come early for seats.

“Mild He lays His glory by, born that man no more may die.” Merry Christmas, all!
