Say ‘no’ to Kid Rock

EDITOR:

A radio station in the Marquette area has recently started a petition in order to convince musician Kid Rock to play a concert in the U.P. The fact that Mr. Rock has so far declined to tour in this region, despite professing his love for the area in songs such as “Born Free” and “All Summer Long” clearly demonstrates his contempt for the residents of the U.P. and his deeply cynical use of regional nostalgia to sell records of questionable musical merit. It is an affront to our dignity to have to beg an entertainer of such low caliber to perform here. A counter petition is now available (https://www.change.org/p/keep-kid-rock-out-of-the-u-p) in order to send Mr. Rock a message. To quote Lynyrd Skynyrd, in a song that Mr. Rock himself ripped off, we don’t need him around, anyhow.
