Judging the President
EDITOR:
I read Mr. Scott Ham’s letter with interest. He was mostly correct, but his timing was off significantly.
Historically, we always refer to Adolph Hitler as an evil fascist, however, we must also include Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, and Joseph Stalin in this rogue’s gallery. Hitler was the only one who was “elected” to his position.
In America, we did elect a person who sought to use a central authority in an anti-democratic attempt at something akin to dictatorship. Not only did he usurp power through the use of executive orders, but also appointed sycophants to distort justice and confiscate person property (earnings) as well as bankrupting the country through debt and deficit. By utilizing un-elected bureaucracies he has stifled the economy through government-directed regulation and unilaterally created the largest governmentally controlled health care program in history. Opposition was controlled via a compliant, propagandistic print and electronic media.
Barack Obama, Eric Holder, John Koskinen, and Hillary Clinton all contributed in attempts to impose fascism on America. Obamacare, selective prosecution (or not) by race and disastrous foreign policy in the face of terrorist assault on America are the evidence.
Also, Mr. Ham notes “there are current political groups whose aims are fascist both in spirit and application.” In this case, citing my examples above, he is correct. However, let us note that the Obama administration is still in power, and Mr. Trump et.al. have yet to take office. In typical liberal “broad brush” fashion, (recall Hillary Clinton’s “deplorable” comment) he has condemned Americans and the free election process by which we select our leaders.
The same process that elevated the current administration to fascist status.
I will wait until Mr. Trump is inaugurated, and begins to implement his policies and results become known. Until then I will observe closely and, if he causes injury to our country I will judge him appropriately and respond with vigor.
