Trappers thank community for event’s success

This week’s bouquets go to:

From the U.P. Trappers Association and Bob Steinmetz:

The U.P. Trappers Association would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the huge success of the National Trappers Association Convention and Outdoor Show which we hosted on July 26-28 this year. The outpouring of support from this community and local businesses was amazing. As trappers arrived in Escanaba they saw “Welcome Trappers” on a large city sign, on the signs of motels, restaurants, gas stations and many other businesses. And when they entered these establishments and stores they were greeted by Escanaba’s friendly, welcoming employees and staff. Support from the community, the local businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the hundreds of volunteers all helped make this successful convention possible. A special thanks to those other outdoor organizations that provided workers for us as well as the many “non-trappers” who volunteered their help.

Also a very special thanks to those businesses that purchased ads on our two websites, sponsored our posters, and those who donated money to be used in advertising to promote this event. It is our sincere hope that all those businesses who invested in our success realized a generous return on their investments. We were excited to see packed restaurants, booked to capacity motels, business for charter captains, increased traffic in stores, lines at our gas stations, and whatever else this convention may have contributed to Escanaba and the Upper Peninsula.

As we trappers said our goodbyes to old and new friends, we heard many stories about the unbelievable welcome people had received from the entire community and everyone they came in contact with. And the many who left us with the final words “We will be back!” warmed our hearts and hopefully the hearts of all those who extended their friendly hospitality to trappers from nearly every state in the nation and beyond. Once again the proud, friendly people of Escanaba and the Upper Peninsula really opened their hearts, wallets, hospitality to those visiting our area.
