Many hands made Community Thanksgiving Dinner possible
This week’s bouquets go to:
From Maggie L. Tall and Theresa Nelson, Community Thanksgiving Dinner:
Scores of people from all walks of life worked together to prepare and serve an old-fashioned Thanksgiving Dinner to anyone in the area who was alone on Thanksgiving Day. This was the 38th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, and the 24th to be served at the Escanaba Senior High. Again this year the area Girl Scout Troops led the effort, and over a hundred volunteers stepped forward to help by delivering, cooking and serving and then cleaning up afterwards. Over a thousand dinners were served at the school, delivered to home-bound residents, or were picked up at the site. Financial contributions, along with donations of food, were received from over a hundred area businesses and individuals. The organizers of the dinner want to thank everyone who showed their faith and dedication to volunteerism, which made the dinner a success!
From the Gladstone High School Baseball Boosters:
The Gladstone High School Baseball Boosters would like to say thank you to the Dagenais Foundation, First Bank and Riverside Auto Group for your recent donation to our 100 percent community funded junior varsity and varsity high school baseball program. We are so grateful for your support and commitment to our program. It is because of your enthusiasm we can put our junior varsity and varsity baseball players and coaches on the field. You continue to hit it out of the park.
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.
Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.
