Community made scholarship possible
This week’s bouquets go to:
From Maureen Lauerman of Gladstone:
In 1978, I lost my son in a motorcycle accident in his senior year of high school here in Menominee. God took my family and me by the hand and got us through those tough times.
Our friends and family came together with emotional and financial support. My son Jimmy was planning to attend college. His dream was never fulfilled, but in his memory we formed a scholarship at Menominee High School for a graduating young man that has college plans.
We have kept his memory alive for the last 39 years. This past week my husband passed away and our community came together again to help us mourn and graciously contributed to our son’s scholarship.
I am writing today to publicly thank everyone that has contributed to my son’s memorial scholarship along with everyone that has formed or participated in other scholarships in our community.
Thank you for investing in our children’s future.
From Darci Griebel, Principal and staff of Escanaaba High School:
On May 31, the Delta County Medical Professionals donated their time to generously to give our students sports physicals. Without this wonderful service, some of our students would not be able to participate in sports. They have donated their time for many years and we sincerely appreciate them providing this service. Our community, students, staff and coaches are grateful to have these professionals volunteer their time and skills. Thank you to you all.
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
