Ethel Jean LaCarte

GLADSTONE — Ethel Jean LaCarte, 64, of Gladstone, went to Heaven the morning of Saturday, March 9, 2019 at UP Health System – Marquette, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on Aug. 1,1954, in Escanaba, the daughter of Carl and Ethel (Goodnough) Anderson. Ethel grew up in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School. Ethel Jean Anderson married Roy LaCarte on April 17, 1972, in Escanaba. Together the couple shared 47 years of marriage and raised three children. Ethel worked at Big Boy as a cook for several years. She then was employed at Sav Mor IGA and later Super One Foods, each in the deli department. Ethel had a knack for cooking and enjoyed making sure everyone was fed — she always had food on the table. She was dedicated to spoiling and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Ethel was a strong, caring person in both heart and mind, she never complained of her pain and would constantly put others first.

Ethel Jean LaCarte is survived by her husband, Roy LaCarte of Gladstone; son, Roy LaCarte Jr. of Gladstone; daughters, April LaCarte (Darrell Sexton) of Escanaba, and Ginny (Randy) Kurth of Deerfield, Wis.; grandchildren, Antonio LaCarte, Daniel Sexton, and David Sexton; sisters, Sharon Griffin (Bob Rogers), Janet Kwarciany, Chris (Jim) Deacon, and Judy (Doug) Pearson; brothers, Roger Anderson, and Dave (Maryann) Anderson; sister-in-law, Linda Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by sister, Margie Lacosse; brother, John Anderson; brothers-in-law, Louis LaCosse, and Ron Kwarciany; and sister-in-law, Gail Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ethel will follow at 4 p.m., Friday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elise Low Edwardson officiating.

A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services at the Escanaba Civic Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. The Anderson Funeral Homes are assisting the LaCarte family and online condolences can be sent at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
