Gerald P. ‘Jerry’ Luft

GLADSTONE — Gerald P. “Jerry” Luft, 55, of Gladstone, passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 18, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1963, in Flat Rock, son of Melvin J. and Theresa M. (Blanchette) Luft. Jerry attended school in Gladstone.

Jerry worked as an independent logger for many years.

He enjoyed tinkering around in his garage and gardening.

Among survivors include his daughter, Amber (Ken) Robitaille of Escanaba; stepchildren, Mike, Heather and Crystal; several grandchildren; siblings, Carol Luft (Don Small) of Big Bay, James (Maradee) Luft of Gladstone, Joseph Luft of Gladstone, Patty (John) Kasbohm of Rockford, Mich., Rita Wildey (James King) of Gladstone, Larry (April) Luft of Rockford, Mich., and Jenny (Terry) Allard of Wells; six nieces and nephews, Malarie Luft, Dalton Wildey, Alyssa Allard, and Sam, Evie, Charlie and Josie Luft; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Luft.

Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. EST at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old Hwy 2 & 41, Bark River. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Francis Dobrzenski officiating.

Burial will be in the Escanaba Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family of Gerald P. Luft.
