John M. Villeneuve

ESCANABA — John M. Villeneuve, 70, of 1415 Lake Shore Drive in Escanaba, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born on May 13, 1948 in Escanaba, the son of Milton “Pejoe” and Lorraine (Trombley) Villeneuve. John grew up in Escanaba and was a 1966 graduate of Escanaba High School.

Following graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era. He married the former Carol Jean Hansen on March 14, 1969 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba. Together, the couple shared 49 years of marriage and raised two children.

John was employed by J.D. Koontz in Escanaba where he delivered Pabst Blue Ribbon beer to various places in the area.

Due to a disability, John had to retire. For 10 years, he and Carol managed the Gladstone Bay Campground and met many friends along the way. John enjoyed reading, listening to audiobooks, sitting on his porch looking at the water, and wintering with Carol in Arizona. He loved spending time with his family and friends as they meant the world to him.

John M. Villeneuve is survived by wife, Carol Villeneuve of Escanaba; son, Scott (Pam) Villeneuve of Bay City, Mich.; grandchildren, Ian Villeneuve, and Elly Villeneuve; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle in 1986; and brother, Donald “Donny” Villeneuve.

Private graveside services were held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba. The Anderson Funeral Homes assisted the Villeneuve family and online condolences can be sent at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
