Norma M. Mattonen

WELLS, Mich. — Norma M. Mattonen, 97, of Wells, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family early Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, 2018, at Christian Park Center.

Norma was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Cornell, Mich., the daughter of Joseph and Norma (Colburn) Terrien. She was united in marriage to Wilho “Bill” Mattonen, who preceded her in death in September 1998. In 1957 the couple moved to Wells where they raised their four children together.

Norma enjoyed reading, and cooking for family and friends. She spent 11 years at the Sunny Shores Foster Home in Gladstone.

Norma is survived by: four daughters, Bonnie (Marvin) Miller of Pine Ridge, Mich., Sandra Sanchez of Livonia, Mich., Nancy (Donald) Demeuse of Gladstone, Mich., Donna Taylor of Wells, Mich.; six grandchildren, Debbie (Jim) Groleau, Steve (Annette) Minor, Wanda Sanchez, Mark (Sharon) Sanchez, Linda Sanchez, and Donald (Jennifer) Demeuse Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Chris Minor, Loren Sanchez, Kaitlyn, and Chelsey Demeuse; one great-great-grandchild, Rhandi Minor; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Wilho “Bill” Mattonen, she is preceded in death by: four brothers, Bernard “Bun”, Carl, John, and George; one sister, Mary Thompson.

Family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating.
