Marcella J. Casey

WELLS — Marcella J. Casey, 86, of Wells, passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2018, at Christian Park Village in Escanaba surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Flat Rock on Oct. 1, 1931, daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Caron) Bussineau. Marcella was raised in Wells and graduated from Escanaba High School.

On Sept. 1, 1951, Marcella married James Casey at St. Anthony’s Church in Wells. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before Jim passed away March 25, 2017.

Marcella worked as a cook at Spars Bar from 1968 to 1980 where her famous pizza recipe is still being used today. She then went to work at the Family Inn restaurant until her retirement in 2000.

Marcella loved going to the family camp in Northland and spent many wonderful days there with family and friends. She loved to cook and bake. Making pasties was her specialty. She also enjoyed playing cards and loved to cross stitch.

Marcella was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines.

Among survivors are her children, Robert (Linda Schoenenberger) Casey of Waterford, Conn., Cindy (Mike) Swanson and Cathy (Jim) Martinson of Escanaba, Kelly (Fritz) Eisner of Manitowoc, and Kevin Casey of Wells; grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Abby, Jim, Brad, Elliott, Clair, Kelly Jo, Stephanie and Kelly Mae; great-grandchildren, Jude, Chloe, Kaydence, Wesley, Harvey, Dakota, Jillian, Amelia, Blake and Charlotte; and sister, Phyllis (John) King of Flat Rock.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jim, she was preceded in death by son, Donald; sisters, Frances Bougie, Gen Morris and Margaret Casey; and brother, Gerald.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 12, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.

A meal will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony’s Building Fund.
