Kenneth Dale ‘Joe‘ Starnes
RAPID RIVER — Kenneth Dale “Joe” Starnes, 76, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at his home in Rapid River.
Joe was born June 22, 1941, in Sagola, Mich., the son of Harvey and Ada (Fox) Starnes. He was raised and attended school in Escanaba. Joe married the former Doris Hawkins on Aug. 9, 2003. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry work and going to camp. Joe loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was fortunate to have spent extra time with his granddaughter, Alisha, and enjoyed being involved in her art projects and her interests at college.
In addition to his wife, Doris, Joe is survived by: son, Joseph (Jennifer) Starnes of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Renee (Kevin) Springer of Zepper Hills, Fla.; brother, William Starnes of Gladstone, Mich.; stepdaughters, Susan (Rick) Stribling of Killeen, Texas, Debra (Timothy) Hirn of Rapid River, Mich., Beverly (Darren) Foulker of Gladstone, Mich; grandchildren, Adam, Gavin, Parker, Christopher, Ricky, Marcus, Matthew, Ashlie and Alisha; great-grandchildren, Harmony and Zaira.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his nine siblings.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow visiting hours at 5:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber of All Saints Church officiating.
