Dorothy L. Scheeneman

POWERS — Dorothy L. Scheeneman, 95, of Powers and formerly of Ford River, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

She was born in Escanaba on Feb. 21, 1922, daughter of Edward and Louise Wunder.

On Nov. 8, 1941, Dorothy married Carl Scheeneman at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1992.

Dorothy worked in various retail stores as a clerk. She worked at Ernies Party Store, J.C. Penney, Montgomery Ward, Cliffs Cash Market and the House of Ludington.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hyde and Foster Grandparents program.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Alneida Weissert of Bark River, Judy (George) LaFave of Ford River, Carl Scheeneman Jr. of Escanaba and Terry (Lynn) Scheeneman of Gladstone; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; four sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hyde.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Zindler officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in West Ford River Cemetery spring 2018.
