Steven J. Cummings Sr.
ESCANABA — Steven J. Cummings Sr., 57, of Escanaba, passed away on Sunday evening, Jan. 28, 2018, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
Steve was born in Escanaba on Feb. 22, 1960, son of Boyd and Mildred (Levesque) Cummings. He was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School and attended Bay College. Besides leaving home for the military, Steve was a lifelong resident of Escanaba.
He served in the Air Force from 1978 to 1982 when he was honorably discharged.
He loved to go antiquing and loved wheeling and dealing for a great antique. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. Most of all, he loved spending time with his granddaughter, his “shining light,” Nevaeh.
Steve is survived by his mother, Mildred; son, Steven Jr. “Joey”; granddaughter, Nevaeh; siblings, Deborah (Daniel) Curran, Mike (Corine) Cummings, Kevin (Jan) Cummings, all of Escanaba, Colleen (Gregg) Peterson of Winneconne, Wis., Barb (Bob) Larson of Bark River, and Julie (Carla) Cummings of Conifer, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd; and great-nephew, Alexander Curran.
A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. at Escanaba Free Lutheran Church, 502 S. 12th St., Escanaba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cummings family. A memorial will be established at a later date.
The Crawford Funeral Homes is assisting the Cummings family.
