Betty June Erickson
ESCANABA — Betty June Erickson, 88, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 21, 2018, at Soderman’s Adult Foster Care Home in Gladstone. She was born on June 29, 1929, in Perkins, Mich., the daughter of Edwin and Sadie (Connett) Johnson. Betty grew up in the Perkins area and also attended school in Perkins. On April 6, 1950, the former Betty June Johnson married her childhood friend, Robert M. Erickson, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2014. Together, the couple shared 63 years of marriage together. Betty enjoyed spending time at their camp in Perkins since 1968. She also enjoyed the little things in life, especially the beauty of gardening. Betty was a founding member of the Kennedy School for handicapped children.
Betty June Erickson is survived by daughters, Beatrice and Barbara Erickson of Escanaba; son, Robert M. (Connie) Erickson Jr. of Yuma, Ariz.; grandson, Robbie (Dawn) Erickson of Baltimore, Md.; and great-grandson, Noah Erickson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by grandson, Nathaniel Erickson; three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty will follow at 1 p.m. Friday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Emmett Norden officiating.
