Dorothy Marie (Erickson) Bergquist

Dorothy, daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Buntjer) Erickson, was born on Feb. 12, 1926, in Escanaba. She attended the Barr School in Escanaba and the Sunnyside School in Bark River.

On April 28, 1944, she and Edwin Bergquist were united in marriage by Rev. Karl Hammer at the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. In April, they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. She was a member of the Escanaba Free Lutheran Church, enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading, studying her bible, and talking on the phone.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin; children, Lawrence (Brenda) Bergquist of Pangburn, Ariz., Sherry (Charles) Johnson of Gladstone, Dale (Kathy) Bergquist of Escanaba, and Bonnie (Curt) Nyquist of Gladstone; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Pearsall of Janesville, Wis., and Joan Beery of Tuolumne, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harold Erickson, Joyce Gatien; and great-granddaughter, Angel Nyquist.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Escanaba Free Lutheran Church. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Escanaba Free Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Cummings officiating.

Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.
