Clarence E. Dahlin

KINGSFORD — Clarence E. Dahlin, 90, of Kingsford, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at ManorCare Health Services.

He was born April 2, 1927, in Escanaba, son of the late Oscar and Elsie (Bowman) Dahlin. Clarence graduated from Escanaba High School in 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. Clarence married Joyce Carbonelli on June 20, 1953, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1998.

Clarence was employed as a supervisor at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain from the time it opened in 1950 until his retirement in the early 1990s. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50. Clarence enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers and University of Michigan.

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela (John) Chiamulera of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Robert and Donald Dahlin, both of Gladstone; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Clarence was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Arnold Dahlin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 and the American Legion Post 145 will conduct military graveside honors.
