Theresa Mary Deiter

ESCANABA — Theresa Mary Deiter, 88, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday, May 8 2017, at Bishop Noa Home. She was born on Oct. 14, 1928, in Osier, Mich., daughter of the late William and Eva (LaLonde) Lancour Jr. On Feb. 15, 1947, Theresa married the late Clarence Deiter at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba.

Theresa was an active member of St. Anthony Parish and St. Anthony Ladies Guild. She enjoyed planting flowers, camping, snowmobiling, going for walks, traveling, and for many years going to hunting camp. She was often found reading romance novels and historical fictions. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Theresa was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Theresa is survived by her sons, Rodney (Amy) Deiter and Mark (Patricia Swanson) Deiter of Escanaba; grandchildren, Ryan (Monica) Deiter of Columbus, Ohio and Aaron, Brett and Abram Deiter of Escanaba; four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Abbigayle, Solomon and Margo; special friends, Mary Ann Rivers, Natalie and Ben Swanson; three sisters, Lurline, Lela, Rita; and two brothers, Wayne and Irving “Thomas.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, William, Ronald, Norman, Dale, Keith, and Floyd; and five sisters, Yvonne Montgomery, Judy Eagle, Leola Wiltzius, Phyllis Deroin, and Wanda Orva.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba with parish prayers at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Burial will immediately follow Mass at Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will follow burial in the St. Anthony church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 1820 9th Ave. North, Escanaba, MI 49829. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Bishop Noa Home for the great care they have provided to Theresa over the past years.
