Cynthia (Cindi Shedd) Oswald
GLADSTONE — Cynthia (Cindi Shedd) Oswald, 59, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017, after a short illness surrounded by the loving support of her family. She was born in Ann Arbor and graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Mich.
After high school, Cindi worked at Gasow Veterinary Hospital in Birmingham, before leaving to work at the Ford Motor Company, where she stayed for 10 years. A life-long lover of animals, Cindi left Ford to return to a career of caring for animals at a veterinary clinic and farm.
Cindi met Fred in 1998 where they entered into a devoted courtship. They married in 2003 in Las Vegas. Cindi was known as “mom” to her two stepchildren, Cassie and Becca Oswald. Fred and Cindi bought a farm and moved to Bark River in 2010 where they enjoyed country life, as well as playing trivial pursuit at Hereford & Hops and dinner at the Stonehouse. Cindi also enjoyed gardening, reading, and collecting antique furniture and unique flowers and plants.
Cindi is survived by her husband, Frederick V. Oswald; her stepchildren, Cassie and Becca Oswald, as well as her three dogs, Dora, Virgil and Anna, who were her constant companions. She is also survived by her brother, Craig (Joanne Jensen) Shedd and sisters, Patricia (Robert) Baldwin and Jodi (Paul) Sheibels; and Fred’s eight siblings, Virginia (Bob) Rosenfeldt, Ann (Michael) Sherzer, Edward (Christine Lavelle) Oswald, Clara (John) Schultz; Ted (Carolyn Olson) Oswald; Ned (Michelle Nedeau) Oswald, Jed (Ruth Eichhorn) Oswald and Stephanie (Will) Smoot; mother-in-law, Rebecca Oswald; and countless nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Betty Shedd and father-in-law, Virgil Oswald.
A private memorial service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Delta County Animal Shelter.
