Catherine M. ‘Kate’ Savageau
FORD RIVER — Catherine M. “Kate” Savageau, 92, of Ford River, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Christian Park Healthcare Center with her loving daughter by her side. She was born in Escanaba on Jan. 23, 1925, daughter of the late Napolean and Charlotte (Kidd) Couillard. Kate graduated from Escanaba High School in 1942. In May of 1946, she married William E. Savageau at St. Patrick’s Church. He preceded her in death in 1997.
After graduation, Kate worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company and was transferred to Detroit during World War II. She moved to St. Louis, Mo., in 1956 where she raised her family and worked in retail for many years as a buyer, store manager, and cosmetician until her retirement in 1996. Kate moved back to the Escanaba area in 1998. She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick’s Church.
Kate is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Botwright; two sisters; special niece, Debbie Madras; and numerous nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son-in-law, Kenneth Botwright; one brother-in-law; and nephew, Daniel Madras.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Spalding are assisting the Savageau family.
