Elizabeth ‘Betty’ L. Anderson
ESCANABA — Elizabeth “Betty” L. Anderson, age 88, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba. She was born on March 26, 1929 in Escanaba, the daughter of Charles “Chuck” and Linea (Quist) Wentworth. She grew up and attended school in Escanaba and also worked on the family farm. Throughout the years, she worked various jobs including, Vonn’s Bakery as a teenager, the mink ranch during the holidays, Pix Shoes, S & H Green Stamps Store, and then Montgomery Ward until her retirement. On Nov. 1, 1952, the former Elizabeth L. Hentz married John Alfred Anderson and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2003. The couple shared 50 years of marriage together. Betty enjoyed playing bingo, traveling to various places, camping, making items on her knitting machine, and was a great baker. Family meant the world to Betty, and she loved spending time with them.
Betty L. Anderson is survived by six children, Richard (Carol) Hentz of Green Bay, Wis., Glenn (Sharon) Hentz of Cornell, Gayle (Dwayne) Noel of Cornell, Paula (Dale) Russell of Northland, John (Cathy) Anderson of Cornell, and Lauri Anderson of Escanaba; six grandchildren, Todd, Jessica, Troy, Shane, Jami, and Jake; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by grandson, Dwayne Noel; and sister, Helen Kirchen.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Sunday, April 30, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty will follow at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating.
