ESCANABA — Lorraine A. Haack, age 98, of 906 7th Ave. South in Escanaba, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born on Jan. 15, 1919 in Ishpeming, the daughter of Joseph and Signe (Norman) Anderson. Lorraine grew up in Ishpeming and graduated from Ishpeming High School. She then went on and was a graduate of St. Luke’s Nursing Program in Marquette.

The former Lorraine Anderson married Lawrence “Larry” Haack on Oct. 15, 1942 in Fort Benning, Ga. while he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. The couple shared 69 years of marriage together. Larry preceded her in death on June 8, 2012. They lived in South Carolina for two years and then lived in the states of Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana until the family moved to Escanaba in 1963.

Lorraine was employed as a school nurse for 12 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba, volunteered at the Community Action Agency and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, and enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Escanaba Senior Center.

Lorraine A. Haack is survived by daughter, Nancy (John) Ward of Cheboygan, Mich.; sons, Paul (Marcia) Haack of Portland, Ore., and Mark Haack of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rodney Spence of Escanaba.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Arnold Anderson.

Private family visitation was held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery in Ishpeming. Funeral services will be held later this summer at Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. The family requests memorials be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church, Fortune Lake Bible Camp, or the U.P. ­Environmental Coalition. Envelopes will be available at the ­Anderson Funeral Home.
