BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Jodi L. Peterson, age 55 of Big Rapids formerly of Bark River, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. She was born Nov. 11, 1961 in Escanaba, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Richer) Peterson. Jodi graduated from Bark River-Harris High School in 1980. She then earned her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Bay de Noc Community College.

Jodi was employed by Pinecrest before she began her career as a Paraprofessional at Powers Community Schools and Big Rapids Public Schools. Currently, she was working at St. Peter’s Lutheran School. Jodi also owned “Jodi’s Cleaning Service” covering Reed City, Big Rapids and Canadian Lakes. She loved the outdoors; feeding birds, gardening, and raising chickens.

Jodi was a Detroit Red Wings, Green Bay Packers, and Nascar fan. She was also a devoted fan of the Scottsville Clown band, in which her husband played, and was involved in the local Michigan Education Association. Jodi was a member of the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Reed City and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Evart.

She was a loving mother and adored her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Jodi is survived by her husband, Robert Clark Jr. of Big Rapids; son, Justin (Amanda) Meiner of Reed City; granddaughter, Ellie Reid Meiner; two step-sons, Robert III (Stephanie) Clark of Caledonia, and William Clark of Big Rapids; step-daughter, Rebecca (Dominick) Miller of Cheboygan and their children Piper and Oscar Miller; step-mother, Sandy Peterson of Escanaba; three siblings, Robert (Rachelle) Peterson of Bark River, Scott (Kimberly) Peterson of Escanaba, and Jennifer (Chris) Kobasic of Louisiana; nieces and nephews, Heather, Molly, Nicole, Ronald, Bralynn, Zachary, Chelsi, Allison, Lindsey, Veronika, Viktoria, Viviana, and Valerija; the father of her son, Scott Meiner of Powers; and previous husband, David Scheid of Paris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ricky Peterson; and several aunts and uncles.

The family requests that you wear purple to the service, as it was her favorite color. Jodi’s memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Joe Fix officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the Funeral Home. There will also be a memorial gathering in Bark River at a later date.
