Janet Carol Allgeyer

CORNELL, Mich. — Janet Carol Allgeyer, 60, of Cornell, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 2017, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the Cornell area.

Janet was born Dec. 4, 1956, in Pontiac, Mich., the daughter of Garry and Janet (Allen) Johnson. She was raised in Ortonville, Mich., and Cornell, Mich., and was a 1975 graduate of Perkins High School. Following high school, Janet was employed at Northern Michigan Veneer where she worked for many years. On July 18, 1992, Janet was united in marriage to Albert Allgeyer in Rapid River and together the couple made their home and raised their two sons in Cornell. In recent years, Janet was employed at Walmart in Escanaba, where she built many lasting friendships. Janet was a kind-hearted, gentle person who sought the good in everything and everybody. She loved sewing and would often attend sewing classes with several coworkers. Janet enjoyed exploring the outdoors. She loved to spend time planting and tending to her flower garden, hunting, fishing, photography and making polished stone jewelry with the stones she collected and polished in her rock tumbler.

In addition to her husband Albert, Janet is survived by: father, Garry Johnson; sons, Trevor and Cody Allgeyer; sister, Terrie Johnson; brothers, Garry (Ruth) and Brian Johnson; sister-in-law, Geneva (Pat) Reithoffer; brothers-in-law, Jim (Marilyn), Clarence (Joyce) and Curtis Allgeyer. Also listed among the surviving family are several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Carol Johnson, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Janet’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow visiting hours at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Tom Otis, pastor, officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services at the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Gladstone. Janet will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in the spring. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.
