Jeff William Messersmith
WILSON — Jeff William Messersmith, 49, of Wilson, passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay.
He was born in Escanaba on Oct. 2, 1967, the son of Earl and Lorna (Gagne) Messersmith. Jeff graduated from Carney-Nadeau School.
Jeff spent several years working security and an EMT for Quinnesec Paper Mill. He was also employed with Marinette Marine as a welder/ship fitter until he had to retire for medical reasons.
On Dec. 13, 2002, Jeff married Brandy Porath in Menominee.
Spending time with his family was very important to Jeff. He enjoyed watching Carley’s basketball games, cutting trees with Wyatt and riding horses with Cassie. He also enjoyed working on projects in the garage and welding.
Jeff was a member of Central Baptist Church and was also a volunteer for BAMSAR.
He is survived by wife, Brandy (Porath) Messersmith of Wilson; children, Cassandra “Cassie” Porath, Carley Messersmith and Wyatt Messersmith, all of Wilson; and brother, Brian Messersmith of Wilson.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was also preceded in death by his brother, Scott Messersmith.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Jeff will follow at 4 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Gross officiating.
Burial will take place in Wilson Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family.
