Joan (Joanne) Mary Lohfink

NORTHLAND — Joan (Joanne) Mary Lohfink, 81, of 68650 County Road 426 in Northland, (Felch), passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 11, 2016, peacefully at home with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by her side. She was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Escanaba, daughter of Ernest and Eugenie (Caron) Roberts. Joan attended school in Flat Rock and lived in Escanaba until 1974 when the family moved to Northland. She was employed at Tommy’s Luncheon Diner in Escanaba where she met Bob Lohfink in 1955. The former Joan Roberts married Robert Lohfink on July 27, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2014. The couple shared 57 years of marriage together. Over the years, Joan worked at the Northland Bar and later at the Danforth Place until her retirement. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, loved attending church as a member of St. Joseph Mission Church in Northland on Sundays, enjoyed cooking, and also traveling to various casinos with her friends.

Joan Mary Lohfink is survived by sons, Keith (Luann) Lohfink of Northland and Robert (Lori) Lohfink of Northland; daughters, Laura Sargent of Wells, Dawn (Todd) Johnson of Kingsford, and Jodi Lohfink of Northland; grandchildren, Isaac (Jenn), Jason (Kate), Lee (Kristine), MaryEllen (Luke), and Scott (Aimee); great-grandchildren, Thomas, Dustin, Kenny, Hannah, Joanna, Peyton, Jack, and Reagan; sisters, Janet Budkis of Griffith, IN, Dorothy Lewis of Wyoming, Mich., and Joyce Jacques of Escanaba; brother, Dick (Betty) Roberts of Oak Creek, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by son, Scott Lohfink in 1980; granddaughter, Jessica in 1980; twin brother, Joe Roberts; two brothers, Harry and Ernest “Robert” Roberts; and sister, Jean Fish.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. Joseph Mission Church in Northland. Funeral services celebrating the life of Joan will follow at 12 p.m. Thursday with Fathers Allen Mott and Fran DeGroot officiating.

Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery. A luncheon will be served afterward at Wells Township Hall following the burial. The Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the Lohfink family and online condolences can be sent at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
