Jack A. Cook

GLADSTONE – Jack A. Cook, age 92, of 7859 Co. 426 M.5 Rd., Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born on Oct. 5, 1924 in Escanaba, the son of Fredrick and Margie (Canute) Cook. Jack grew up in the Escanaba area and attended Escanaba Schools.

Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II until he was honorably discharged. After returning home, he attended school to obtain a degree as a Dental Technician. Jack moved home to Escanaba where he owned and operated Cook Dental Lab until his retirement.

He enjoyed wintering in Florida at Lake Wales, loved camping, traveling, snowmobiling, and gardening.

Cook is survived by, wife, Gloria of Escanaba; two daughters, Judy Diehl of Pensacola, Fla., and Sally (Dennis) Bittner of Escanaba; one son, James (Paula) Cook of Escanaba; grandchildren, Dash Diehl, Stephen Diehl, Mark Bittner, Sara Harris, Scott Cook, and Bryan Cook; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dana, Ava, Jack, Natalee, Molly, and Alex; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by wife, Gertrude on June 6, 2006; sisters, Helen, Essie, Ardith, and Beverly; and brothers, Clair “Bud”, and Jay.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 3:45 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. Military Rites will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. by the Delta County Veterans Council. Funeral services celebrating the life of Jack will follow at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Cheryl Duke officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
