Man arrested for drive-by shooting

ISHPEMING — An Ishpeming man has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting that occurred on Aug. 28 at 635 Iron St. in Ishpeming.

Brandon Lee Schiefel, 24, was arrested Thursday without incident on a 12-count felony warrant issued by the Marquette County Prosecutors Office, according to a release issued by the Ishpeming Police Department.

The charges include one count of assault with intent to murder; one count of discharge of a firearm in or at a building; one count discharge of a firearm from a vehicle along with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon/felonious assault and six counts of felony firearms, officials say.

The maximum charge of assault with intent to murder carries a penalty of up to life in prison.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab assisted the IPD in the collection of evidence at the scene on August 28, the release states.

No injuries were reported as a result of incident and Schiefel was among three individuals sought as persons of interest on Aug. 29.
