Road work suspended during U.P. State Fair

ESCANABA — The U.P. State Fair will take place in Escanaba from Aug. 13-19, and the Michigan Department of Transportation will suspend some road work in the area while this event is taking place.

The work stoppage was planned due to expectations of high levels of traffic in and around the fairgrounds. To limit traffic congestion and to increase safety, work on the following projects will be put on hold during the week of the fair:

-nighttime resurfacing work on U.S. 2 from N. 30th St. to Danforth Road.

-resurfacing work on M-35 from the Menominee County line to the Delta County airport.

-traffic signal modernization and sidewalk/ramp upgrades on U.S. 2, U.S. 41, and M-35 in Escanaba.

Work on these projects is expected to resume on Aug. 20.
