Rockin’ the Bay returns to Gladstone

Daily Press file photo Travis Swanson and the Midnight Movers jam out at a past Rockin’ the Bay music festival at the Gladstone Yacht Club. The event returns this weekend. It starts tonight from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Gladstone Yacht Club and continues from 1:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

GLADSTONE — Rockin’ The Bay Music Festival will take place this Friday and Saturday in Van Cleve Park near the Gladstone Yacht Club.

Gladstone Yacht Club member and Rockin’ The Bay committee member Matt Johnson said this event has had a presence in the area for over a decade.

“It’s the 11th year of the event,” he said.

Eleven artists will perform at the two-day-long festival. The People Brothers Band will headline on Friday, and Saturday’s headliner will be the Lamont Cranston Band.

Johnson noted that other artists performing at the festival — including Trevor Ohlsen, Alicia Corbett (who will be featured during Amanda Torcher’s set along with Tina Two), Erik Koskinen, and the Slamming Doors — have local ties.

“We’re excited about having them here,” he said.

Food and beverages will be available during Rockin’ The Bay, including full bar service. Johnson said carry-ins will not be allowed at the event.

Tickets to the festival can be purchased online or in person at the Gladstone Yacht Club. Attendance is free for children 12 and under.

According to Johnson, Rockin’ The Bay has traditionally supported a variety of local organizations and groups.

“This year’s beneficiary is the Gladstone girls basketball program,” he said.

Rockin’ The Bay Music Festival will run from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and from 1:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday. For more information, including a full lineup, visit rockinthebayfestival.com.
