Truck crashes through Delta airport fence
ESCANABA — Investigation continues into why a truck driver lost control of his semi, causing it to leave the highway and crash through the fence at the Delta County Airport early this morning, according to Escanaba Public Safety.
Officers responded to the report of a semi tractor trailer accident at 5:42 a.m. on the 2400 block of South Lincoln Road, according to a news release from public safety.
The semi driver, Steven Moody of downstate Midland, was driving north on South Lincoln Road when his vehicle hit a snow embankment and crossed all lanes of traffic then struck a light pole and traveled through the fence on the west side of the airport.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and no one was injured, said police.
Alcohol is believed to not be a factor in the crash, stated Capt. Jamie Segorski this morning.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted at the scene by the city electric department and Gene’s Towing.
