Planning commission hearings Monday
ESCANABA — Two public hearings are scheduled for Monday’s meeting of the Escanaba Planning Commission that will consider a special land use permit for a proposed recovery center for addicts on South Lincoln Road and a site plan for a proposed retail business on the Delta Plaza Mall property.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.
A request to convert an Escanaba home into a re-entry recovery house was denied Sept. 14 by the planning commission following comments from business owners who supported the program but not the downtown location.
Catholic Social Services of the U.P. is proposing to develop property at 226 S. Lincoln Road into a rehabilitation center for addicts and is requesting approval of a special land permit for the special care facility.
A public hearing will also be held regarding plans to construct a 5,290-square-foot single-story retail building on the corner of South Lincoln Road and 3rd Avenue North on property north of Sayklly’s Confectionery & Gifts.
