Local hospital has new name, sign

ESCANABA — The signs at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba along Ludington Street have recently been updated.

According to Lindsey Stearns, communication relations specialist for OSF, the updates were due in part to a name change within the OSF Healthcare System.

“We have installed new signs because OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group has recently changed its name to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group,” said Stearns. “Though we are this community’s sole hospital, we are one of 11 hospitals in the OSF HealthCare system.”

The name change has been in the works with the OSF Healthcare Marketing and Communications division for over a year, explained Stearns. Since the name was officially changed in June, the team has been unveiling its new name and logo.

The OSF signs located in Escanaba were the first to receive updates, but won’t be the only ones, said Stearns.

OSF Healthcare serves all the Upper Peninsula and Illinois, noted Stearns, adding eventually, all of the hospitals under OSF will eventually receive new signs. The replacements are on an “as needed” basis, explained Stearns, and the Escanba location was in need.

“Our signs were due to be updated, so we were one of the first facilities to receive new signs when the name changes were implemented,” said Stearns. “All of the new hospital signs will have the same look and will be easily recognized as OSF HealthCare.”

The name adjustment is meant to showcase that each facility and service line are a part of the same healthcare system, making it easier for patients to identify and know who they are receiving care from.

“We want to ensure our patients that choosing OSF HealthCare means connected health and wellness resources that are focused on them living healthier and fuller lives,” said Stearns.

Local residents have taken notice of the updated signs, noted Stearns, adding the reactions and comments towards the new look has been positive.

“A lot of people have noticed the new signs and commented positively on the updated look, especially how nice they look lit up in the evening,” said Stearns.
